Tall Tales for a Mass Audience

چکیده
Abstract In this article we compare Dutch penny prints with Spanish Aleluyas, focusing on three specific functions of premodern mass medium: popularising and adapting theatre plays; standardising (folk/fairy) tales; literary classics. Via these address the discrepancies between two countries considering materiality prints, growth production, but also transition from a predominantly religious, towards more profane content. Striking was lack educative edifying initiatives in Spain contrast to ideological strategies. We observed some interesting similarities as well. Although both often conformed current ideologies institutions, there were instances which aleluyas used instruments social satire or resistance. A few similar strange twists adaptations classics, seem suggest form transnational exchange at least imitation.

Tall tales from de Sitter space II: Field theory dualities
We consider the evolution of massive scalar fields in (asymptotically) de Sitter spacetimes of arbitrary dimension. Through the proposed dS/CFT correspondence, our analysis points to the existence of new nonlocal dualities for the Euclidean conformal field theory. A massless conformally coupled scalar field provides an example where the analysis is easily explicitly extended to ‘tall’ backgroun...

Is the dependence of virial velocity on galaxy luminosity a power law? 4. Does the velocity function for galaxies cut off exponentially?
متن کاملSmall Tails Tell Tall Tales – Intra-Individual Variation in the Stable Isotope Values of Fish Fin
BACKGROUND Fish fin is a widely used, non-lethal sample material in studies using stable isotopes to assess the ecology of fishes. However, fish fin is composed of two distinct tissues (ray and membrane) which may have different stable isotope values and are not homogeneously distributed within a fin. As such, estimates of the stable isotope values of a fish may vary according to the section of...

This paper describes the incremental adoption of XP (extreme programming) practices. The relationship of XP to previous work in usability engineering is described. The centrality of user stories is emphasized and illustrated with anecdotes from the development of systems traditionally and with XP.
